Title: Santa Claus is coming to town Artist: Frank Sinatra
You better watch out You better not cry Better not pout I'm telling you why Santa Claus is coming to town He's making a list And checking it twice; Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice Santa Claus is coming to town He sees you when you're sleeping He knows when you're awake He knows if you've been bad or good So be good for goodness sake! O! You better watch out! You better not cry Better not pout I'm telling you why Santa Claus is coming to town Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus Is Coming to Town From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" (sometimes with Coming changed to Comin') is a Christmas song. It was written by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie, and was first sung on Eddie Cantor's radio show in November 1934. It became an instant hit with orders for 100,000 copies of sheet music the next day and over 400,000 copies sold by Christmas.
There was a 1970's television special of the same name. The lyrics of the song have been a source for jokes for years. A Calvin and Hobbes strip implied that if Santa "sees you when you're sleeping [and] knows when you're awake," he must be a "CIA spook." The movie Santa Claus: The Movie has Santa reminding his elves to write "the list" carefully, because (following the song) he'll be "checking it twice".
