Raised Dining TerraceAn inviting outdoor room was created from the pass-through space between a garage and living area. A frame of Cor-ten steel surrounds the raised dining terrace, while Barstow gold gravel covers the “floor” around a teak-and-steel table and twin benches.
A curtain of native grape greens grows up one wall of the garden room and the plants surrounding the terrace are low-maintenance plants that tolerate drought and shade.
Sparkling Dining RoomThis dining area opens onto the kitchen and rear garden. It features a wood table with benches as well as a cascade of crystals hanging amid low-voltage track lights. Believe it or not, this space used to be a narrow driveway between two cottages.
Easy LivingSeattle designer Kelly McCombs selected upholstery and natural materials that bring warmth to the main living area, a welcome approach during Oregon's cooler months. She chose heavily textured fabrics in natural colors to accompany gleaming wooden furnishings. Douglas fir walls and hickory flooring add texture and rich graining to the rooms, tying the bungalow to the surrounding forest.
Relaxing BathIn this master bath, the windows open to allow cooling breezes, and the air-jetted tub is ready to relax in. The custom-built cabinets and sea-green stained concrete vanity countertops complement the tile glass mosaics and floor tile.
Pet RoomMake pet grooming and cleanup convenient with this room's sealed glazed cement floor, corrugated galvanized aluminum wainscoat encircling the room, and a specialized faux slate and porcelain pet shower.
Work it OutOn rainy days, the exercise room with treadmill, elliptical trainer, weights set, and bench will help keep any exercise program on track. An adjacent full bathroom and laundry room allow a busy owner to clean up quickly.
Craft StudioSimple, practical shelves hold jars and baskets that organize tools and materials for easy access. A reclaimed bin from a textile mill holds bolts of fabric. The sturdy trestle work table is actually a reproduction farm table originally intended for dining.

Into the LightThe formerly dark and formal staircase was brightened by painting the black woodwork white to emphasize the light-welcoming windows.
Grand EntranceAccents set a relaxed, coastal tone. A small table with turned legs, a shapely lamp, and a striped wool rug offer color and style. Distinctive artwork showcases native flora.
Mealtime BlissA dining table hosts candlelit dinners serviced by a nearby outdoor kitchen.
Rise and ShineTwo Austin, Texas furniture designers created the ringed pedestal dining table and saffron-colored chairs in this sunny breakfast nook adjoining the kitchen. Ample windows have a "low-e" coating to mitigate heat from the sun.
