從早期就出現在前麵4季裏打邊鼓的華人“設計家”Jian-Yang （楊建）第5季中開始有主線故事了，和今天中美貿易戰很靠題：The stubbornly ambitious Chinese-born designer Jian-Yang has been looking all season for ways to exploit other people’s work and get rich quick, like his longtime foil Erlich Bachman used to do. Jian-Yang has settled on copying popular American technologies for a Chinese market lax about patent protection. In the process, he’s stumbled on a way to knock off Richard’s new internet, and he may beat Pied Piper to market. 整個季節中楊建一直在想方設法的利用其他人的發明創造來快速發財，最後終於成功的山寨了美國的技術，並搶在美國人前麵上市，輕而易舉的打敗真正的發明者Richard。How ironic! How realistic!
