這首古老英國詩歌的作者，已經沒有人知道了，李安把它選為電影理智與情感中演奏的歌詞，配上了音樂，由英國女高音jane eaglen演繹。那個時候，瑪麗安還沒有戀愛，透著無邪和少年強賦愁的憂傷，心中向往著能使她焚燒的愛情。今天看到了這部電影的sound track，終於可以重溫了。

李安在cd介紹中說，我並不想找一首純粹描寫愛情的詩歌，那樣太過直白，我希望能找到一種能夠反映瑪麗安對於整個世界浪漫的態度，這是簡奧斯丁小說和當時的詩歌繪畫所充分發揮的特色。

這首詩歌，表現了太陽的沉睡和微笑，涓涓細流如同高山的眼淚，從憂傷的眼中淌出。每一個事物都透著濃鬱的浪漫色彩，恰如其分地表現了清純的瑪麗安眼中的世界。
