My Favorite English Songs

I enjoy listening to all kinds of songs, such as "art songs", "pop songs", and "folk songs". Songs bring me joy, relax my soul and rejuvenate my spirit. E.Y. Harburg once said:"Words make you think. Music makes you feel. A song makes you feel a thought. Among all the songs, " The Rose", "Tears In Heaven" and "What A Wonderful World" are my all time three favorite Engilsh songs.

"The Rose" is a touching song about enduring love. It was written by Amanda McBroom and sung by Bette Milder who is an American singer, actress and comedian. "Some say love it is a river that drowns the tender reed. I say love it is a flower and you it's only seed. And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong. Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snows lies the seed , that with the sun's love, in the spring , becomes the rose."(

"Tears In Heaven"is a very sad song about grief and loss. Eric Clapton, an English guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, wrote this song for the remembance of his four year old son Conor who died from a fall. Life is fragile and unpredictable. "Time can bring you down , time can bend your knees and time can break your heart." But we still have to go on for the ones whom we love and for these who love us. Helen Keller once said:" "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us."(

"What A Wonderful World" is a very beautiful and warm song with poetic lyrics. "I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom for me and you." Louis Armstrong, with his recognizable deep and distinctive gravelly voice, sang this song so appealingly that it melt people's heart.(Please click to enjoy: What A Wonderful World)

Song: What A Wonderful World
Artist: Louis Armstrong

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

The colors of a rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
