This City Was Just Named the Best Place to Live in the U.S. for Digital Nomads for its Affordability, Weather, and Beaches
Los Angeles took the No. 1 spot.
Whether working full-time or part-time, choosing the right city is paramount for remote workers and digital nomads. Instant Offices, a digital marketplace for flexible workspaces, recently analyzed cities worldwide to reveal the best places to be a digital nomad in 2024. Their methodology assessed locations based on affordability, weather, broadband speed, and other factors, ultimately naming Los Angeles the best remote work city in the U.S. in 2024.
According to Instant Offices, Los Angeles has more than 10,000 WiFi hotspots and an average broadband speed of 198 megabits per second. Beyond its excellent connectivity, the “City of Angels” is blessed with a warm Mediterranean climate and famed beaches like Santa Monica Beach and Venice Beach.
Los Angeles’ diverse neighborhoods appeal to digital nomads of various backgrounds, and the city also provides ample recreational activities, networking opportunities, and cultural amenities that enable meaningful engagement outside the virtual workspace. For remote-friendly accommodations, companies like Blueground and Anyplace offer convenient, flexible, furnished apartments for 30-day stays or longer. Those seeking short-term accommodation can look at properties like citizenM in downtown Los Angeles or Stay Open, a unique capsule hotel overlooking Venice Beach.
Second on the list is Dallas. The city's mild winters, cost of living, and central location make it an attractive location for remote workers, especially those collaborating with colleagues or clients across multiple U.S. time zones. The Sova Micro-Room & Social Hotel in downtown Dallas is an ideal spot to stay. It features furnished micro-rooms with smart TVs and monsoon showers, an industrial-style cocktail bar with free Wi-Fi, and networking activities like Sangria Social Hour, live music events, and mixology classes.
Coming in third is Jacksonville, Florida's most populous city and home to the last remaining Maxwell House coffee plant in the U.S. Building upon its coffee heritage, the city recently launched the Jax Coffee & Donuts Trail, which is the perfect resource for coffee-loving travelers and remote workers looking for cozy spots to sample top-notch brews and mouthwatering donuts. By downloading the app and collecting stamps in their digital passports from a curated list of over 40 cafes and coffee houses, participants can access a variety of rewards, such as free coffee.
New York City and San Antonio round out the top five U.S. destinations for digital nomads, placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
