My advice for newly admitted students： look up what clubs may be interesting to you and prepare right away. Some may be for fun only but could still be very selective. (For an instance get a coach. I wanted my kid to go to badminton club at college in order to get regular exercise. Acutally that badminton club is like school badminton team. Did not get in since not good enough) 

Don't just bet on one. instead bet on a few.
