Many colleges, including 2 of the world's Top 3.  

City is not too big, not too small. Decent public transportation. 

Solid food and bar scenes too.  

A lot of internship/job opportunities. Plus, NYC isn't too far away - an easy train, bus, car ride or flight trip.

Stanford has a great campus, but as a bubbled campus, feels more suburban, and a little boring.  The weather can't be beaten , but again a little boring with less distinct 4 seasons.
