Chapter 4Edit

With an effort I managed to restrain my incredulous laughter. The very phrases were worn so threadbare that they evoked no image except that of a turbaned 'character' leaking sawdust at every pore as he pursued a tiger through the Bois de Boulogne. (pg. 64) This is when Gat*****y is telling Nick about his life. Nick is trying to restrain himself from laughter because he knows that there is something wrong with what Gat*****y is saying because Jordan looks like she knows he is lying when Nick looks at her. From what Nick believes, what Gat*****y is saying is so minute meaning there isn't a lot of detail to go on to see if its true or not. Gat*****y is saying that he lived so well after his family had all died and that he travelled a lot and almost had it made for him even though we all know the truth about Gat*****y and how he actually got everything in the end.
