cable is faster than DSL in general. of course you pay a little more, but i think it is worth the money.

rcn is a reputable provider in NYC area. i don't know they operate in other places. they have competitive price for package service.

regular cable service provide a cable modem, which allows you to connect a computer via ethernet. for more devices you will need a router. most routers are wifi router, which provide both wireless and wired network connections for mulitiple devices at your home.

sometimes you can rent a cable modem with router from cable company. their techie will setup for you. however most of people buy their own routers. router are not expensive.
