he suspected his advisor(a Nobel winner)'s research was fake and spent a lot of his own research to prove it. Of course he argued a lot with his advisor. One evening Xie paid an unscheduled visit to his advisor's residence, with a pistol in the pocket. The advsior was not at home while his wife opened the door. Xie left without entering the house. She called the police shortly. At that time, a delegation from USTC happened to visit the States.  They immediately took Xie back to USTC. Later Xie got the Ph.D from USTC. My advisor in USTC had a Ph.D student who happened to stay the doom next to Xie's doom.

I had a lot of face-to-face time with another famous guy, 幹政, really feel sorry for what happened to him.  All I can say to TT is, you made all the right decisions in your life.  Your parents raised you well.
