agent has to split 0.5% to the buyer agent. 

You understand in US, 6% commision to listing agent is norm, with bank ususlly pay 5% for REO property.  I heard some listing agnet do 3%, that is really rare already.

Is 6% too much? may be.    But 1%, really never heard of it.

I guess the market is really differrnt in canada.
