Seriously, San Diego is quite risky for war

If a China-US grand scale war erupts and the two nations exchange fires against each other's Pacific coast, San Diego will be the target.

I don't think China dares to hit LA.

But again, US would not hit Shanghai. It could hit Qingdao.

San Diego and Qingdao are both *good* size targets - not too big, but filled with Navy operation bases.
