I guess it is back to the project by project.

If managing partners don't feel strongly about 10% + earning sharing at the end of year, this project might never get started at all.  Moreover, sleeping partners can also vote on this project at the beginning.  I remember VA_Landlord once mentioned he was confident at least 20% profit for a right project. And he paid his partners 10% interest.
