Hantavirus symptoms:
Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) symptoms begin 1–6 weeks after rodent exposure, starting with fatigue, fever, muscle aches (thighs, hips, back), headaches, and gastrointestinal issues. Within 4–10 days, severe symptoms emerge, including coughing, chest tightness, and rapid, severe difficulty breathing caused by fluid in the lungs. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

- Fever and chills: Commonly \(101^{\circ}F–104^{\circ}F\).
- Fatigue and malaise: Generalized tiredness.
- Muscle aches: Deep muscle pain, specifically in the back, hips, and thighs.
- Headache and dizziness: Common symptoms, often accompanied by chills.
- Gastrointestinal issues: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain
