what is the storage tank in Water Heater

I have home warranty, which covers the water heater, and my water heater is not good and needs to be replaced.

But the home warranty policy excludes the storage tank, I don't know if that means the water tank inside the water heater?

If yes, then nothing of the water heater is covered. Because the water tank is the main component of the water heater.

Anyone knows this?
