A basic dehumidifier has a water tank that collects condensed water, someone has to empty it out once a while. This is basically useless.
Some dehumidifier has a drain hose connection, the drain hose direct condensed water to somewhere by gravity. you can buy longer plastic tubes to replace the included hose.
If your basement has no drains, you'll need a dehumidifier with pump (and a drain hose connection) so that the dehumidifier can pump the condensed water somehwere higher such as a basement window or ground floor to drain the water out.
