You are spreading the damage... a better solution is just le

a better solution is just let it leak where they leak and collect it, and pump it away.  Then when the weather is good, fix the roof.  Now what you did is to have the leaked water spread to the surface under the shingles of the roof, basically spreading the water all over the places.
