1. Try to stay in Athena on April 10, Sunday to watch the great military prade at 11:00 am. only.
2. Take 4 days tour to visit Meteora monasteries in north of Greece and included Delphi, Olympia, and other places of ancient ruins. If you book the tour when you arrive Athens and pay cash to the local travel agency, you can get 20% discount of the standard price on internet offer.
3. Rodes Island has more nature and historical sights to see such as in Lindos (at least 5 hrs trip) than Crete in which the trafic is unbelievable terrible and waste time.
4. Take the speed boat cruise from the port to Old town Oia  instead of the cable car, to avoid the long line waiting for the small "box-car". Unless you want to shopping in the new town.
