Not getting enough to judge, but I think zheng's voyages and the writing of the book are still meaningful in at least two ways:
1, China proved that colonialism isn't necessarily the practice of a great power. There are better options for the world.
2, Not all western authors are in alignment with the standard mindset as manifested in its governments and media. (The shameless China bashing they have been practicing in the recent years has created a very negative impression for themselves)
These two facts are good enough. We should always identify with the better in humanity regardless where it comes from.
