Thank u! Would the 50mm 1.8 + 55-200 f/4 pair be better than

Would the 50mm 1.8 & 55-200mm f/4 combo work better than a single 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6? I have an active 5 year old boy and am expecting a baby girl. I think the 55-200 zoom lense maybe useful capturing outdoor sports shots? Thanks for any advice, I really know very little about cameras and lenses.
