Can something hang horizontally?

Guess not, and so vertically hanging seems redundant.
My try:

星垂平野闊 "Flat fields so boundless with stars hanging low"

月湧大江流 "The great river flowing with the moonlight shimmering in it"

btw, 牆should be 檣.
