there might be an assumption that translation requires the adjustment of "foreign" discourses to their new sites. however, translation could be more than moving a "textual" construct into a new language/cultural site. from this perspective, should "foreign" discourses retain what may be a discomforting--even scandalous--presence within the receiving language/culture?
