I basically agree with Lilac MM. There are 3 kinds of pencils

1. graphite pencil, the one we use everyday, drawer uses it too.
2. charcoal pencil, the one a drawer uses. It is very dark.
3. carbon pencil, it is the combination of 1 and 2 and it is getting popularity now.

You can find all three king of pencils at Michael's or AC Moore or any other crafts store.
