good reading and good tone

but you have read "give a hoot" as "get a hoot".
don't know if it's a phrase for "get a hoot" but "not give a hoot" means "not care" as illustrated in your note.

to make a sentense with it "Her boss won't give a hoot about her opinion on running the business".
