APAD: knockout

Definition

    An individual who is exceptionally physically attractive.

 

Examples

   1) I didn't realize how attractive she was until I saw her photo--she's a

   real knockout.

   2) I met an acquaintance from Bangka(Indonesia) who has a knockout appearance.

 

Etymology

   Originating in the 1880s from boxing, where a "knockout" referred to a punch

   that renders an opponent unconscious. The term was later extended

   metaphorically to describe someone strikingly attractive.
