Funny story of my salad days
Before having children, my mother used to be in a choir group. Due to her influence, I have always loved music since young, but unfortunately I don't have her singing talent.
It was near the end of my first University year, the students in our two engineering classes organized a party where people with dancing/singing/whatever abilities went on the "stage" to show their talents.
I was a happy audience member in the crowd, till suddenly, someone called out my name and asked me to go to the "stage" to present my talent.
"What?! I don't have any talent!" I protested. But it was no use and people started clapping hands and all eyes were on me. Someone sitting next to me suggested quietly: "just go and make a dog sound".
In all the confusion, I suddenly remembered one simple song my Mom used to sing to me: 賣報歌. Alright, that is what I'm going to sing.
Just when I started the second line of the song, a big laugh broke out in the classroom, everyone was laughing, and I couldn't continue and wondered if I was out of tune. But it's such a simple children's song and there's no way I could be off. When the laughter died down, I started again, but my classmates started to laugh again. This time I understood why, and laughed with them.
Finally I managed to finish the first verse of the song and quickly got off the stage.
When the party was finished and all of us walked out of the building, one male student started singing, and soon others started to join him: “啦啦啦,啦啦啦,我是賣報的小行家, 。。。"
Here it is, and laughing is welcome!
