The phrase "labour of love" originates from the Bible, specifically in 1 Thessalonians 1:3, where it describes the Thessalonians' faith, love, and hope as a "work of faith, a labour of love, and a perseverance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ".

In modern days, the meaning of the phrase has more to do with everyday life than religion, as described in this video:

-------------------------------------------------

For me, doing math used to be my labour of love in schools; drawing and painting have been my labour of love since 2016;  APAD is my ongoing labour of love since Feb 18, 2024 微笑.

But, being a handywoman has been my labour of love all my adult life. eg. I was "on a first name basis" with people in the local Home Depot when we built a kitchen in our home suite. We were in the store so many times that they even set us a contractor account.

Regardless of the type of the labour, being able to create something with one's hands is a wonderful experience.  I'm sure you all have "been there, done that"!

Wish you a "labour of love" weekend! 加油

ps.  We made a big table with a whole piece of thick (4") cedar wood in 2022 (it was me designing/cutting for the bow tie inlay insert in the pic, but the footprints on the table are from Maowi the cat 鬼臉).
