One morning I was pulled over by police at the intersection. I was turning right at red light like so. The first lane was filled and totally stopped. I was going to the second lane. So I turned and the police car followed me to the next block and pulled me to roadside.
A young police officer came to me: You didn't yield to the coming traffic at the red light, sir.
No, I didn't;
didn't you see me at all or what?
Yes, I saw you and you were the only car before the intersection, I should have waited, could be my misjudgement at moning rush hours, thought the first lane was full and you might wait, it's my bad, really not necessary.
Then he asked for my license and ownership and went back to his car to check my driving record. I suddenly remembered a question. A few months ago, my wife received a notice from the police that her vehicle license sticker was due. Then I immediately renewed it and kept the receipt in the car, but the stickers never arrived. I was to call Service Ontario, now I had the best person to ask. After he came back I asked immediately. He told me the sticker is no longer required, the eligible vehicles' license will be renewed automatically. What a coincidence, right after I renewed the sticker(free of charge), it is cancelled.
Sir, I'll give you a warning this time, now you know better.
Not a ticket.
I always belived directly facing such mistakes is the correct attitude, might get pardoned sometimes.
