Tanka is a poetry form which originated in Japan more than 13 centuries ago.

A tanka consists of 31 syllables arranged in five lines.

The lines have 5,7,5,7,and 7 syllables,respectively.

In its purest form, tanka poems are most commonly written as expressions of gratitude, love, or self-reflection.

Each line consists of one image and the whole thing together completes one thought.

Tanka(meaning: short poem)are unrhymed poetry.

Practice makes perfect!Would you please write your Tanka?
