草原之夜

Rising Sun

the sun rises in slo-mo 
from the shades of the clouds
painting 
fish belly white
orange yellow
rose red
lemon green 
for fear of disturbing the monotonous darkness 

in the oak trees 
the birds begin to try out their instruments
flute
trumpet
shakuhachi
reed-rope
Mongolian khumei
oboe 

dewdrops roll down from the tip of the grass
falling on the lawn softly 
a squirrel burrowing out of tree roots
still with a drowsy look
amber school bus drives into the community 
in the haze quietly 
like an old witch out of fairy tales 
takes away the children carrying schoolbags
from underneath the street lamps
