A Lone Wild Goose. 孤雁

That day in the early winter was freezing cold. I drove to the lake in the evening just to have a change of scenery and have some fresh air. The lake started to freeze up. I saw a lone wild goose standing next to the reeds by the lake, shivering. I suspected that it was unwell due to cold and hunger. How did it get separated from its group? It’ll be difficult to get by on its own. After observing it for a while, I went home. I still thought about it late at night, wondering whether it could survive the long cold night.

 

【七律】孤雁

 

癸卯初冬日，天寒地凍。向晚驅車至湖邊，湖水已結冰。見一孤雁立於湖邊蘆葦叢旁，瑟瑟發抖，疑是受凍挨餓而身不適。觀察良久而歸，至深夜仍甚念之，不知它能否挨過漫長寒夜。

 

病雁立身蘆葦邊，孤煢凍水與霜天。

曾飛雲裏常承愛，已了世間應有緣。

此處冰心連朔漠，當時紫靄籠山川。

平安保你生寒夜，再次相逢又一年。
