美國感恩節的由來 The Origin of Thanksgiving

 

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States, and Thanksgiving 2023 occurs on Thursday, November 23. In 1621,  Puritans who fled religious persecution from England and the Native American Wampanoag people shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations.

For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual puritans and states. It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

多年前第一次在基督徒朋友家裏聽到這首歌，就被歌詞中的樂觀和喜樂所打動。
