The installation instruction of my garage door opener says, don't install the included door bracket on the door panel directly,

Always use a reinforcement bracket which is not included;

Is this a joke?

Last week when I shopped the reinforcement bracket in the Homedepot I only found a personel from another department to help me. He also had hardtime to find it. He murmured you don't have to use it for the single door;  true, my two neighbours got their openers installed by the homedepot contractors, they all only used the included stubby door brackets.

I argued: I am a diyer,  the difference of a diyer is a double assurance vs. professional is just Okay, since we don't pay professional fees, we put the money to the best parts.

Finally we found them, not cheap 35+$/each.

Professional, the actual meaning is someone does a profession for living. Is not equivalent to be great. Although they are supposed to be good and super skillful. At least in construction trades, some professional contractors  notoriously keep doing things dishonest. One neighbour got problem of her garage door opener, called homedepot (where she bought and got installed), never got a serious answer and service.  Finishing the work fast with okay quality and get paid is the paramount of a professional.   I mean not every professional is always doing excellent work.

DIYer , should be equipped with or willing to learn enough knowledge and skills before DIY, and use common sense, take time and patience, and in many aspects can exceed the quality of the professional.

10' ceiling, pretty long hanging distance. My result is better than the ones in the builder's model home, more stable, less vibration.
