Let's face it. It is a difficult world out there. Still, the

last time I checked, the US was the most generous in the world for the last decade, according to the World Giving Index of the UK-based nonprofit Charities Aid Foundation. 

Being kind is also being fair, which is widely practiced, I believe, in a land of law like the US. In a land of rule like ..., not so much.
