When I read the first part of your novel, I thought that Bing and Serena were the two main characters. I am so surprised to know that " Serena is a minor character in the novel, and won't be mentioned."  Why is that? You spent the first part of your novel wrote about Bing and Serena' online dating stories. Now Serena is suddenly out of the picture. The first part of your novel is full of suspense and twists and turns. It is more like a romantic novel. 

In the second part of your novel, you began to write about Bing's family, birth place, village, etc. I assume the rest of your novel is about Bing's life: from his childhood to adulthood, college, work, marriage, abroad, divorce... Maybe Bing will get back with his ex-wife. That is why this novel is called shadow in paradise.  That is my assumption and my wild guess. lol...
