著名影星安娜斯各特（茱莉亞羅伯茨 飾）的演藝事業如日中天。一天她來到了諾丁山的一間書店，邂逅了事業愛情兩失意的老板威廉薩克（休格朗特 飾）。威廉認出了安娜是紅極一時的明星，十分驚訝，也沒想到自己會愛上這位明星，假扮記者借故約會安娜。很快兩人墜入愛河，本來甜蜜的生活卻一下子被發現了的記者破壞了。安娜承受著媒體的壓力，需要做出決定，兩人也吵了起來……
