ear: pronounced as  /ɪər/ in America
year: pronounced as /jɪər/in America

The main difference is that there is a a semivowel /j / before the word year.

to speak the a semivowel /j/, you should pronounce a very short & tense sound which is the same as in "you", or "yes". Please be sure, the /j/ sound must be SHORT and TENSE.
