1: even you get married with him, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to claim half or even ten percent of his property. Most lawyers will advise u that property can be divided into so-called "marital property" and "seperate property". You will only be entitle to receive reasonable portion of "marital property" after divorce. It's not my job to introduce more details on this matter, my comrades charge at least $100 on this. :-)

2. most states now don't recognize common law marriage, so cohabitation won't protect your interest. Leave him or accept the reality.

4. in your case, i can give u some personal advice: it's up to yourself to decide why you wanna stay with him. Frankly, if for something mysterious like "love" (btw, does anybody hear this concept before? :), feel free to hold him in your arms only if u still can; otherwise if you are really more curious about property, get married with him soon or leave him at once.

Try to find someone else who can earn lots of money, e.g. a lawyer.
