Don't mislead people

The fact that your wife was not affected does not mean that other people would not be affected under a similar circumstances. Company policy varies and people are different. Nowadays many companies have an internal policy not to give any reference, good or bad, for a former employee. That may work to the advantage of someone like your wife. However, please be noted that we live in a small world and news can be spread around really quickly.
