speeding ticket---verdict

Went to court for a speeding ticket in school zone today. I do feel the state of mind does matter. I told the judge I did not notice the yellow fashing light---I pass that area 8-10 a day, but only few times in a year I pass there during special speed time period. I was fined with minumum fine, my drivers license was not affected. I believe if this is first offense, I would have walked out courtroom without fine.
