Not worth the fighting

A couple years ago, I had similar situation.
I didn't get a medical bill in time and paid it
later. At the same time, the bill went to a debt
collector and I ignored it. By the time I need
a loan, the collector still wanted the money.
My agent suggested that I paid off the collector
in order to get the loan. Since it took time and energy
to correct the error, I agreed.
