Could it be earned income credit?

If you are in school with very low earned income from part-time job, and you have a couple of young kids, you may be qualified for earned income credit.
I made such mistake 10 years ago. I reported my tiny wage from working as tutor without even thinking about EIC. Then I received refund far exceeding what I expected. But I did receive a letter later on showing the calculation.
