confused about the fed refund by using a software

I used a free software to calculate my tax return. It turned out the federal return is more than the fed withholding although it is samller than the total tax I paid (Fed withhoding, Fed OASD/EE, Fed MED/EE). Is it possible?
or I made something wrong when I used it?
