she is actually lucky in that she did not respond. The reason? If she responded, technically, she would be surrendering her personal jurisdiction to the court -- right now, the court still has no jurisdiction over her. Therefore, she has the standing in challenging THIS specific judgement.
You are right in that a Chinese court can and will refuse the judgement by a PA court. The bottomline in this case is that if the guy wants to divorce, there is nothing she can do. But technically, she could avoid THIS judgement, and reopen the case somewhere else -- then, the problem would be to find a state that could assert personal jurisdiction over the guy, reopen the case, and get a better term on the alimony and child support.
Honestly, I would not slam an "no" answer to the person who ask the question. Really, she should consult a family law specialist in PA.
