you are not using a DIY package to set this trust, you are hiring a lawyer to make an customized one. Thus it doesn't matter if it is common practice or not. in addition, the lawyer suppose to work for you, not telling you what to do. If you don't feel comfortable, don't do it! further, an ethical lawyer should follow your instructions if it is legal and practical.
