How to Fire your lawer

I hired a lawer to do my immigration application last year. Unfortunately, after I signed the contract and paid the deposit money ($2000.00), I noticed it is difficult to contact with my lawer by email or phone. I can only leave message to the phone, and very difficult to get his call back. I am very frustrated with this current situation. I even doubt that I have met a cheater. What kind of rights do I have as a client? Is it possible for me to stop the contract and get some deposit money back? Any comment and suggestion would be highly appreciated.
