n Maryland, the standard fine for a speed camera ticket is $40. However, if workers are present in the work zone, the fine doubles to $80. Starting January 1, 2025, a tiered system will be implemented, and fines will be based on how much a vehicle exceeds the speed limit. 

 

Specific fine amounts for work zone speed violations (as of January 1, 2025):

• 30-39 mph over speed limit: $270 (doubles to $540 if workers are present) 
   

• 40+ mph over speed limit: $500 (doubles to $1,000 if workers are present) 
   

• 12-15 mph over speed limit: $60 (doubles to $120 if workers are present) 
   
• 16-19 mph over speed limit: $80 (doubles to $160 if workers are present) 
   
• 20-29 mph over speed limit: $140 (doubles to $280 if workers are present) 
   

It's important to note that these are civil violations, meaning they do not result in points being added to your driving record. Also, insurance companies are not notified of speed camera violations.
