BTW, I am not sure how big your trees are. In my town, if a tree

certain size, you have to go to the town to get permission to get it cut.  I think you better talk to the town people to find it out. If there is such a rule, you need to tell them that you are not the one who cut the tree.  Or you might have trouble with the city.  Won't be big trouble, but still, may cause you time and money.
