More than often people get civil tic

For example, in my state,  if your get a traffic ticket because of speeding in a commercial or residential area, and you did not exceed more than 25 miles of posted speed limit, you will be cited as civil violation. Rural and agricultural areas, and reservations have different statutory provisions. 

There are also non moving violations. 

Poeple generally refer all above as traffic tickets.
